Title: Decent saving
Post by: BazaJT on 30 April 2016, 22:31:19
I have been paying £35 a month for my gas, this figure was based on previous useage which included the time when Maureen was still alive but housebound[so needing heating on a lot].Got latest update today and it transpires that due in part to lower gas prices-and the fact that I'm out most of the time-that I'm now just over £240 in credit and as of next month my payments will drop from the present £35 down to £7.60p a month :y

You could instead ask to change your payment to say about £20/month and ask for a £200 refund.
Then go and treat yourself  ;) :)

Hmmm,I may just do that after bank holiday.A refund like that'd pay for my oil cooler fitting and some change!

Indeed, I would not be so quick to offer the gas board a £200 interest free loans  :y

They don't like giving it back, you will go from one dept to another, but it's worth it, it's your money, and more people should, claim it back, and the utility companies should stop over payments.

Personally, I would leave £40 in the account, just in case the amount the OP adjusts the payment to isn't quite enough and leaves a 'buffer'  :y

WHAT !!!!! Are you never home or something ? Never cook ? Never use hot water ?

My energy bills would absolutely terrify you. They certainly terrify me  :(

Indeed hardly ever at home.Out at work 6 days a week.Get a shower at work.Gas only needed for heating[very rarely on]and hot water for washing up and a wash before going to work.Cooking all done with electric.

For some reason I don't believe you spend £100 pcm on just gas  ::)

Ah, yes, good point. That's a combined, not sure how its splits, I should check as I need to swap again in a couple of weeks.
