Title: Sky HD+ Box HDMI (HDCP) question.
Post by: zirk on 02 May 2016, 15:38:55
Not mine, but one of my Sons when I was around there todey, Hes watching Sky Box through a Scart lead, when I asked why, 'coz it doesn't work in on the HD lead', so, having pluged in the HDMI lead its coming up your display does not support HDCP, (the HDMI copyright protection thing me thinks) but fairly sure the new TV should be fine.

Having played around for a while, and I know nothing to do with Sky boxes, ended ringing the Sky helpline,  ::) :'(, cut a long story short, having gone through what I had for breakfast questions, 40 mins later the Sky women says, 'well Mr Chris, seeing as your Broadband connection is with BT directly and not Sky, thats probably the problem, so ring BT'. Absolute ballards and a waste of time talking to them.

So Gents, whats the fix?, something simple hopefully.  :-\

Yep, reversed it and tried another one, standard HDMI cable right?

The ones Ive used have been, to confirm you KNOW the cable works on another device?
Not come across the issue before, so personally would want a known working device, plugged into that cable, into the same port on the tv to KNOW it was then the sky box causing the issue and the TV and cable are both known good.

Ok, thanks Jim, looks like a Box update issue then, (He has moved house recently  :-\ cant see that making a difference though) think I ring Sky back on a working weekday, might get more sense out of them.

On a different train of thought, is there anything special about the Sky HDMI port, ie it does remote control switching or weird loop back type of stuff.  :-\

Have you put it through a HDMI splitter?

I'd suggest an incomplete cable, or as tunnie says, an in-span device removing some of it.

Mine comes up with that. Just press the backup button as soon as the box has initialised.

Nope, the second cable I used was a good one that came with a NowTV Box, so its probably all your fault.  :P
