Thanks (many thanks) to Mr Telemacher, I have a pair of GM wishbones to refurb. I have cleaned them up and painted them, so now want to start assembling the replacement parts.
Powerflex polybushes are the obvious choice to replace the front bushes, but what is the current perceived wisdom on the other parts.
GM rear bushes ? Which balljoints ? :-\
Tia.

Currently, I'd recommend GM rear bushes. If the balljoints are OK, leave them as-is. If they need changing, I don't think there are many options, Lemforder and GM being only branded ones I've come across.
-
I'd recommend GM rears as they seem to last reasonably well, and are not outrageously priced (about a tenner a side from memory).

I thought that they were almost double that now but I may be wrong. :-\ I agree they do seem the best route and they are fairly easy to press out and in as well. :y

Thanks for the advice / info. :y
Didn't check the balljoints tbh. they are old so I just took them off. :-[ ;D

Ah, you'll have to change them then ;D
TBH, the balljoints on GM wishbones rarely show signs of wear, even when having a lot of miles under the belt. Obviously road conditions and the like will impact it, or if rubber boot splits (which is the only reason I've had to change them).

GM rear bushes were £19.99 each when I bought a set last year and I fitted a set of OCAP ball joints from ECP for about £12 each IIRC. :-\

Balljoints - Lemforder £19.30 each from cp4l. Vtech £15.58 each from GSF. Anyone know what VX charge for genuine GM these days ?

Sorry, no. I used Lemforder when I last did mine a few years back. The Lemforders were around £12 per side at the time. No issues with them so far - though I'm wary of recent Lemforder quality over the past few years (though could be some misbranded parts floating about - I've certainly seen some dodgy looking wishbones and steering idlers sold as Lemforder at a well known national factors)
-
Thanks. I will enquire about the price of Gm when I buy the rear bushes. :y
-
Did mine, with Febi rear bushes, and Febi balljoint, o and powerflex fronts.
-
Another option. Will bear it in mind thanks., :y

I have GM ones fitted. I think GM balljoints are something slightly eye watering like £60-odd each I did have access to a few of them, ex-dealer stock, which I was able to do for £45 the pair +p&p, but alas, no takers at the time.
I'd say go for 'a name', like QH etc, and GM if you can. As said, they don't seem to really ever wear out 8)

I found Delphi balljoints to be cost effective, around £7 each... and being refitted, they're bolted, so actually any balljoint is fine as changing it is simply a matter of unbolting :y
Agreed re poly front and GM rear :y

To Mr MigV6, might be able to source said GM ones for the above price, let me know if any interest :)
