I might tackle this job myself, although due to health issues this would probably need to be spread over a week or so.The question I have is having read the excellent how to on here it says you put oil cooler in place then put cover plate on top etc.,whereas in the Haynes manual it seems to show the process of applying sealer to the cover plate with the oil cooler already bolted to it.Which is the correct procedure?Or are both methods acceptable?

Cover Plate has to come off first before you pull the Cooler out, otherwise you cant pull it out as the plate has to be angled to get through the gap, therefore plate goes back on with new sealent after the new Cooler is in situ, if that makes sense or at least it will when you get your teeth into it.

Yes that makes perfect sense thanks Zirk.

Having just fitted one, fit them separately and have a practice getting the plate in position without sealant as it indeed has to be angled to get it in.Good luck it was my first time too!
