Title: 2.5 TD Loose Dipstick

My recently acquired 2.5 TD has a dipstick tube that is very loose where it goes into the engine.  It's quite difficult to see why it is loose as there's not much room to see. It doesn't appear to be throwing oil out, thankfully, and I'm hopefully in the process of acquiring a spare tube assembly from a friends scrap engine.

What I could really do with, if possible, is an exploded diagram of the tube assembly, so I can see how it is fixed and whether there are any seals or bolts etc that might be missing on my car?

From memory, only bolt is near top, quite visible.

Bottom (from memory) is a push fit into sump, with o-ring seals.

It must be the O-rings that have bitten the dust then, there's definitely something not right,

Yes Craig, 'O' ring at the base with one bolt to clamp a bit further up the other 'O' ring is at the top to secure the dip stick in place.

I think the O-rings have definitely gone walkabout on my engine then  :-[

Definitely need that viscous fan coupling though Jon, if you have it still?  Mine "whooshes" from a cold start and doesn't stop!  Which is odd as you can turn the fan freely when the engine isn't running.  I'm fairly sure that I read somewhere before that viscous fans should cut in when an engine is first started, but then cut-out after a few seconds until it got hot enough for it to be actually needed.  Mine is obviously doing the first bit and sticking on!
