One of your bugbears has finally been addressed. Just seen an ad on codgers TV for British Seniors insurance, which promises to pay your assured sum OR the amount of premiums paid, whichever is higher.

But would it really hurt the bastards to throw in a new car, or villa  complete with pool in the south of France as a 'welcome gift'?

What is the point of life insurance ? It pays you money when your dead. You cant spend it then.  :-\ ::)

Yes, but Opti has a 20 something year old nymphomaniac bit on the side who insists he is insured, with her as beneficiary  ::)
