Title: Engine Warning light after Breather Clean
Post by: MonkeyTurnip on 27 June 2016, 13:08:33
Hi,

i have a 2.5 V6 GLS Auto Omega. did the breather clean (and it needed it) and whilst i was there i changed the spark plugs.

put everything back together and the engine warning light is on. now i havent had a chance to get a reader/do the paperclip trick on it (Time, Rain and my dinner was ready)

i checked and rechecked all plugs/hoses and they all seem fine. when i fist started the car after putting it together it ran fine no lights, it wasnt till i drove it 1/2 mile that the warning light came on. car drives fine, pulls in all gears and seems to be a little smoother.

i'm just seeing if anyone has any ideas before i can get home to have another look

I theory it's a wire or sensor you've not plugged back in. Depends what you've disturbed. But on its own, of course, shouldn't cause the EML to come on  :)

The one I have trouble remembering to plug back in is the rear multi-ram solenoid.

If you are unlucky then your crank sensor was about to die anyway and disturbing the cable finished it off.

Good thought,

And seconded on the multi-ram.  :)

Right, i did the paper clip test and got 3 codes, 19, 35 and 59......

They dont make sence to me, there is no code 35 in the lsit?!? I have uploaded the video of the lights.

Any help appreciated

why are you starting the engine?

Pedal Trick
Foot on brake, gas pedal to the floor.
Turn on ignition to position II (do not fire the engine in position III)
When dash lights go out the yellow light car symbol with a spanner through it should flash.
4 sets of flashes/numbers pause and so on.
10 flashes is zero.
Constant flashing = no codes.

Completely and utterly irrelevant as usual...

OP clearly states 2.5 v6... Pedal trick won't work :-X

The whole post is about the V6 2.5, even the OP knows about the the paper clip, why are you trying to confuse the OP with your moving Peddle Trick post?

19   Incorrect RPM Signal - Early warning of pending crank sensor failure! (very occasionally flagged if the battery was a bit flat when cranked)

59   Intake Manifold Valve 1 Voltage Low - front multiram connection, make doubly sure you did not mix up the multiram and air temp sensor plugs (the multi ram is on a longer piece of cable)

135   Telltale (Checklight) Voltage Low  - probably rogue.
