Title: Newbie
Post by: atann on 27 June 2016, 18:55:12
Hi guys, just got my Omega on Thursday. A facelift 2.6 auto CDX. Very pleased with the car, but a previous owner has fitted an Sony head unit, which is causing some problems. I am only get sound from the right speakers, nothing from the left ones. I have read the post about the Bose system the car originally came with. Could I put an original head unit back in? Which model would it be? There is only one black plug going into the Sony head unit, do you think the car has been rewired?

A CDX wouldn't have come with Bose.

There is a subwoofer on the rear parcel shelf? Was it an option on the CDX?

I don't think Bose was ever offered as an option on any model, but was std on Elite.  It is/was, however, a fairly simple retrofit.

Is there a black shelf bolted to the top of the parcel shelf in the boot?

Not sure I'll have to check.

Could be the loom isn't making great contact in the iso block. I had is a while ago where the wires would squash when the head unit is pushed back causing nose sound then when pulled out would work

Not it doesn't. I've noticed the the unit resets its self when the ignition is turn off or on?

That's because the red and yellow bullets haven't been swapped over in the harness. Then the radio and settings will save

Amazing how similar Halfords and Halfarsed can look   ;D

Agree though, sounds like a bad install   :y

Thanks for that, swapped them over saving now.

Tried that still no joy. There is just the high end coming of of the front right, not bass and lower volume that the left speakers. The is nothing from the rear right. Looks to me as if the rear might be blown? The front might have just had the bass blown. If the speakers need replacing, is it relatively easy?
