Title: leather
Post by: pauls on 08 July 2016, 20:11:56
Has anybody got any clever ideas to get rid of the slippy leather on my car seats. Need to stop my arse slipping about on corners or hard braking. Bloody dangerous >:(

The problem with cloth seats is that apart from being entirely the wrong material for a proper cars seats the Vx fabrics have been universally dire since at least 1987!

Problem is, the cars look so much classier with leather, but cloth seats are more practical in summer, winter and when going round corners.
I still prefer leather as I'm a tart and a poser.  :D

Can you still get those pinnacle-of-chic fashion statements of a few decades ago, the beaded backrests?  8) 8) 8)

Anyone who has had an Elite with cloth seats will know they are by far the most comfortable of all the Omega seats produced. Very soft, yet supportive.  Cool in summer, warm in winter.

Next best I think is MV6 cloth, thought these are quite firm (but not uncomfortable).

I'd agree with that, The only 2 things i like about leather #1 they look smarter #2 they are easier to clean (generally).

I like leather seats in the Omega, but leather needs cleaning to keep it at its best. Some say black leather doesn't show the dirt like the lighter shades, but if it isn't cleaned regularly, it becomes excessively shiny due to dirt combined with body movement, which causes it to have a more 'slippery' feel. How many cars with leather seats do you see with a shiny drivers seat, but a more matt finish to the passenger and even more 'as new ' matt finish on the rear seats? Leather seats are naturally more 'slippery' than cloth, but regular use of a proprietary leather leather will help to restore the 'as new' matt finish and reduce the slippery feel.
The shiny look is more noticeable on the nappa leather finish, rather than the grained leather fitted in 2003 on cars, but both benefit from regular cleaning.
I regularly clean my leather seats in all my Omegas and my Audi, all of which have leather and the problem of 'slippery' seats is greatly reduced.
Hope that helps....
