The lads corsa needs a alarm before he starts upgrading the music system.
In the past, i've always sworn by Toad products.
I've had 3 Ai606's on my cars in the past without any problems of false alarms and happily, it would seem that these have come down in price a hell of a lot in the last 10 years or so :y :y
Just been on the website to have a nosey at the bits and bobs and came across the Ai101 which looks pretty much the same as its cat 1 big brother but without the metal box and I suspect, the siren with its own 12 volt backup.
Is this the only difference ?
Oh yes, i've offered to link up a red LED for him ect BUT he wants a alarm ::)

If its to protect a Music system probably worth getting a good known make that also has 'Smashed Window' detection. :y
Speaking from experience in the past the thieving gits dont always open the doors and seem to know how to get around the Ultra Sonic Intrusion defection radar thingy. >:(

And my experience of aftermarket alarms is that the person they inconvenience the most is the owner. "Can't you just remove it?" was the usual request I had when called to one that won't reset.

Alarms only work when anyone takes any notice of them.

STEMO's right, Alarms however good they are, are only as good as the person who notices them AND does sommat about them. Its unfortunate but these days fewer folks get involved now if any alarms are sounding, other than them being a noise nuisance.
With my electrics playing up on the Disco I had an auto spark come out and he said my alarm was knackered, showed me how and why. He said when I'm ready he could fit an aftermarket one with immobiliser & alarm siren that does the C/L for next to nowt as the market has dropped somewhat in alarms.
When I'm fit again ::) I might even have a go myself, got all the wiring info so I know what each of the 20 wires going into the box do! :-\ :-\ :-\

Uniformity 99% of the time this is true, but if you dont fit one, your never going to forgive yourself when the stereo goes walk about. :'(
When I had my Cosworth on the road, I had a full spec Clifford system installed, plus additional Pager alert. The car was broken into and potentially stolen around 10 times >:(, had it not been for the fact I had installed a hidden switch that interrupted the Fuel Pump supply. :y

Would he not be as well as or instead of - fitting an audio system with a flip off front :-\ :-\ :-\

Removable head unit, limo tint all rear windows, or use secure window film, and a big doggie :y

To be honest Jason, he is looking at second hand but decent quality single DIN Alpine units with a removable front panel :y
He is also looking at using the existing speaker placements so that it doesn't stand out like a spare prick at a orgy when some little chav / smack head has a look through the window ;)
If he wants some more grunt in the back, he has said he wont bother unless he can get a stealth shelf to hide the larger cones under :y
All in all, he is pretty sensible for a 20 year old ;D

Stick with the standard radio, then no mongrel will want to break in.
In Office Tosser talk, that's win-win

Sod the toons, better suspension, and better brakes.

I think he prefers the front passenger seat from the look of the marks on the dash and the lady juice stains ::) :D :D :D

Sounds like he needs a set of fluffy seat covers more than an alarm! ;D

Sounds like he needs a set of plastic, wipe-clean seat covers more than an alarm! ;D
Fixed.
