What do you all use for painting brake calipers/drums? I painted my Omega's calipers RED, but I want something a little more subtle for my Merc & Smart Roadster. I want a grey/silver finish that looks like OE finish :y

Grey / solver caliper aint I would guess. :-\ :D

Same colour as the wheel. Or the same as the bodywork for a subtle look. Your local body shop supplier will have aerosols in stock, or will mix it in 2-pack if you prefer to spray it. No special paint is required, although surface prep is important.

Originally they would have been a grey/silver/zinc colour .... coincidently my car is silver, as are the wheels. eBay is awash with caliper paints ..... just wondered if anyone had a recommended paint :-\

You could paint them with Dulux if you thoroughly degreased and sanded them properly.
If you must have a brand, Wurth wheel paint is good and matches the wheel. Expensive though.

If you recall an old thread Andy, I used Foliatec on my calipers. I painted them over ten years ago and haven't touched them since, apart from wiping them over when I clean the alloys. You mix the paint with the lacquer, so only mix enough for a wheel at a time because it goes bullet hard and destroys the brush. :)
Available in several colours and stays shiny with just a quick wash over now and again. :y

Thanks Allan ..... :y

Painted the calipers on various cars with black Hammerite (well the smooth glossy version), still look OK years later when you wipe the brake dust off.

I want to replicate(ish) the OE grey/silver paint :y

I went red for my c280 as it was a nice azurite blue
My v70 was dark olive pearl so went with a gold paint
Go for a dark colour, black or anthracite on a silver car
But, doesnt this look good

My current German has the blue calipers as part of the M Sport Plus package. They are blue with the plus package regardless of what colour car you choose. Still undecided about them. :-\

Seconded, as luck would have it I've just bought some brand new rear calipers from the Amazon clearout thread, hadn't thought about painting them...

I thought that too but had two tins delivered directly from Wurth IE today for the princely sum of €20 ( £16.80 ) + post ...Bargain as it is the best wheel paint to use .
I painted the calipers on my Omega using gold Smoothrite . It's been on for years and with a quick wipe with a rag and some APC they come up like new .

It's just paint! And aerosols are such an expensive way of buying it. About 18 months ago, I painted four 16" steel wheels from black to Grey Aluminium(Ral 9007 if you must know) which is a common wheel colour using about half of the 1/4 litre of paint he bought. I already had the thinners, clear, and hardener but it was less than £15 worth of materials.
These wheels:

I used Gold hammerite on mine some 12 years ago, still on there and no corrosion just wash down to get them looking new
