Title: 97 Omega 2.5 V6 CD .
Post by: dizaster on 31 July 2016, 17:49:49
Hi,
I still have a 97 Omega 2.5 V6 CD sitting in my garden ( on concrete ). It has an issue with starting, which was traced to a crank sensor problem . New sensor was bought , well in fact 2 were bought, the first was not a genuine part and didn't solve the problem , the 2nd more expensive one was(is) a genuine Vauxhall part, which sorted the problem for a few weeks, then poof I was back to the engine cranking over but not starting.
Due to my physical disability I was unable to progress any further with the problem

<modified by Admin - please read the Guidelines on selling ;)>

Cheers
Diz

It's worth a minimum of, £100, that's just the exhaust front pipes, if they are original.

I read in the maintenance guide that the 2.5 is particularly sensitive to crank sensors. Some originally had Bosch, the majority had Siemens. If you fit the wrong one it may, like yours, run for a short while, then fail again.

As above, you could have the wrong sensor.. and Vx dealers are notorious for telling you the wrong one.. on a 97 I think you'd require same as me, the chamfered end one, oval plug... I forget the part number, but Siemens is right, I think, too.

Just be a pain if you flog the car for pence, to later find another few quid would have seen it right. Fingers crossed, anyway this has a happy resolution, one way of the other.  :)
