I have been driving with a low oil level warning due to a faulty oil level sensor. ( due to get sorted next week ) would a faulty sensor throw up a fault code ? t.i.a

I have the eml on & have had a chance to check vacuum pipes this morning & cannot find anything amiss. the engine sounds ok, so could it be problem mentioned above that has caused eml appear. I have no means to check for fault codes unless I pay £35 + vat & than I still would probably not be any the wiser. so seeking advice please.

From memory, sensor is connected to engine ECU on DTi, so possible.

Unable to look it up, as about 3,000 miles from all my information...
