I know its not lotus forum, already looked there to get some answer about problems with esprit but people not really help there :-[
any way wonder if someone here know any thing about them?

Fair few of the bits are nicked from other manufacturers parts bins.
Rover sdi rear lamps, marina door handles, toyota gearboxes in the excels.

I know those cars are going to have wear and tear age related, wonder what they like to work on ?

I'd avoid anything built around the mid eighties as i may well have built the engine :y. The rule of thumb on the Esprit is if you have to do more than one job on the engine your best off dropping the engine and trans, a job i did a few times when a batch of water pumps decided to in final test.
Always had a thing for the Excel SE over the Esprit, maybe one day, it sounds like you are thinking of buying one?

Engine bay access is very tight. Rule of thumb - if it needs more than one job doing its probably easiest to drop the engine.
Build quality was often a bit iffy, but mechanicals pretty good, engines very good. Not sure how easy it is to get spares for older models ?
Wheeler dealers did one a few years ago. Would be worth watching the episode, as it was one of the better ones in my view. :y

Seem to remember WD found issues with rubber drive shaft coulpings and had them refabricated by some place who specialise in them /
Actually it was quite and interesting programme..had issues with exhaust manifold cracking aswell if I remember correctly and yes they did drop engine/trans as access was non existant around to work.

Can't help but it's one of my bucket list cars, definitely, love Esprits. Just for the looks of the thing, I suspect it'll never work long enough to drive it!

I seem to remember the Esprit (300 S?) doing quite well on the Top Gear jaunt to Argentina.

The Elise is on discovery turbo now.

Not keen on the Elise. Reminds me too much of the MG rovers they did what ever they were called.(no idea why)
Excel, one day, Esprit if im really lucky.

The S1 Elise was a nice car but a lot of the motoring press thought that the VX220 was the better car, abd then there is the VX220 turbo 8)
