Title: My New Omega
Post by: Yogisean on 08 September 2016, 12:35:38
Hello all,

I have just purchased an Omega 2.2 CDX on an X plate, 2000 I believe. I picked it up last night and have given it a very close inspection this morning. I have found a number of issues, some of which I identified before purchasing, some I didn't. I would greatly appreciate any help baring in mind that I have never before owned a Vauxhall and have very little experience under the hood. I am happy to have a go at fixing anything and so would like to try and sort it out myself before taking it to a garage.

The issues are as follows:

1. On the remote locking all the doors operate as they should other than the drivers door. It work fine with the key inserted.

2. The drivers electric seat will not move forward all the way. I can just about reach the peddles, but my partner can't.

3. There is an oil leak which ends up dripping from the oil filter. I'm not sure of the origin of it.

4. when driving it home last night the windows kept steaming up and the blowers seamed to have little effect.

Much appreciation for any help, thoughts, ideas or encouragement!

Thank you

Sean

Hi,

1) most probably the servo-motor inside drivers door is broken or not connected

3) You will need to look a bit closer, to see if it comes from the top part of the egine or bottom part.

4) check the cabin air intake, located below the scuttle on passanger side -> it can be full of water. Also, pollen filter is there, check if it's dirty/wet. Also, check if your footwell carpets are wet.

Welcome to the forum.  :y

1. Door locking motor. Try to pick one up off a breaker on here.
2. If the seat is moving I would imagine it is being obstructed at a certain point. A coin the the runner is favourite.
3. Without seeing it if be guessing. Could be running down from cam cover but that's just me guessing.
4. Check for any water in the scuttle drain in the pollen filter compartment.

Hope this helps.  :y

If you're keen to do things yourself this forum will prove invaluable if you ask the questions.
Do read the various maintenance guides etc. Almost all you need to know is there somewhere.
Garages should be a last resort for most problems.

2) I didn't think electric seats were an option on a CDX?

Electric without memory would have been. Even CD spec have that.

.
Think the op means electric height adjustments, (the little woggle switch on front corner).

CD and CDX have electric height adjustment, but not forwards and backwards movement. Drivers seat forwards and backwards movement only came with memory seat.

Unless of course someone has added Elite seats!

Does your seat base look like this?

Point 4, as Al asks, if the air con doesn't work they do have a habit of steaming up.

It is worth checking the scuttle drain and pollen filter for debris and dampness, and if it's a saloon checking the rear boot vents.

A search will highlight the above two suggestions, if you can't find anything...someone will point you in the correct direction  :y
