Title: Wing Mirrors
Post by: bob.bowring on 26 September 2016, 11:58:34
Is there anyway I can replace my non-electric wing mirrors with electric fold in ones on my CD 2.2 saloon I  am disabled and have arthritis  this would make it a lot easier for me if it could be done  thanks

Not a viable option and they don't fold in that much anyway.

TO be honest as a guy in his early 30s with no signs of arthur (yet) I never use my hands to push them in, I tend to lean against them with my posterior.

I have, however, thought about retro-fitting this option before, though it appears a vast amount of trouble/beyond me. I recall one guy actually ordered some from Scandinavia at a fair expense (got knows what he does when the motors break) but it was a long time ago. Might be on the old site, even.  :'(

Never an option for U.K spec cars for electric fold in mirrors, as said though you gain very little when they are folded.

I do the above though, I just lean on them to move them  ;D

I am assuming the folding was meant more for taking some energy from a potential impact when then get clouted by a passing cardriver/drunk/drunk cardriver, rather than to fold in to actually save space. I know Cavaliers were odd, they sort of pinged off with a loud clatter/snap noise, and hung down on what appeared to be two thick bits of wire coat hanger, flapping in the breeze.
