Title: Headlight field/vision
Post by: gorillaandy on 13 October 2016, 17:21:12
Hi there.  I've got the dreaded headlight field/vision up. I have read fault codes and got, B3435 and B3439. Explonation, left servomotor(clamp 2 and/or clamp 4) open circuit.  Can anyone shed some light? I'm thinking broken wires!

First check for me would be disconnected/broken small link rod on the the sensors.

These are both near side . . .front is above wishbone (rod connects to the wishbone)

Rear is behind the wheel somewhere  . .. can't be sure where without going & laying under my car  ;D ;D  but once you have identified the front one  .  .rear is the same  ;)

These small link rods often pop off when worn , quite often when the  car has  recently been jacked up   ;)

Not sure about that code format though  :-\ :-\ :-\

Yes, probably the linkages. When I was under the car and had them disconnected, that message came up on the dashboard telly.  :y

Given the unfriendly location of the sensor units it would also be wise having a careful look at the plugs and wiring entering them.

They have a habit of corroding and wire then breaks giving the error code.

If the problem has just started the link rod would be my first check as can wear on the ball joint and just pop off, cable tie is your friend then  :y

Link rods are all intact. Tested sensors with diagnostics and they seem to be working. The yellow wire on the adjuster plug has no voltage. The one on the o/s has but only a couple of volts though. I have tested the adjusters and they are working. Most of the other wires seem to have about 4.6 volts. Are there any modules hiding away in the car I could check the wiring?

Cheers for your replies.  😁

Is the plug/socket still intact on the suspension? as mine has come adrift a couple of times. I just cable tie it together again, been ok for months.

Are the motors working?

Visual test is to park in front of a dark wall and turn the lights on. Beam should visibly deflect and reset itself as a self test.
