I have a problem with Central Locking on my 2001 Omega 2.6. I was checking the fuse box to see if there was any problem there , when all electrics failed. No lights, no radio, no ignition lights nothing. Any attempt to use anything resulted in an intermittent beeping.
Have I inadvertently shorted something. Any ideas on how to proceed. No problems with car had previously been seen.

possibly the continual beeping is the sounder going off ....this is situated under the wiper grille/cover on the drivers side under the bonnett....these can be a problem with leaking batteries in the unit,,,,this can lead to the unit catching fire...so you may be wise to check this unit ... :y

Doesn't sound like the power sounder. Is there any component on the internal fuseboard which could cause total power loss. A connector, relay or fuse. Feels as though something has just pulled the plug out.

More likely to be a broken crimp on one of the big wires to the battery or a broken (or fused) fuse link in the fusebox on top of the battery.

If you were "in" the fuse box under the bonnet & power went while you were doing it. . chances are it is something you have disturbed there or around that area :-
Quick prod around with a mulitmeter may be a way forward . . .HTH
