Hi bob,,,why do you want to disable the air bags..is it because you need to remove them to work on the car ???

I am curious as well   :-\. . cannot think of a valid reason to disable the airbags  :-\

Unless you mean to "disable" the airbag light which is on ?

Read it as putting a child seat in front... :-\

That's how I read it. Probably possible, but at a price  :-\

I thought later omegas had a baby seat sensor in the front passenger seat.  Please read the manual me thinks. :)

Only the Elites iirc and then only for suitably equipped Vx seats :-\

Not sure if it was only elites but mega money none the less.

Pop the seat in the back... no danger of distraction by tending to baby on the move then ;)

I read the manual  and it did say baby seat disabling on some models. I do take my grandchildren and great grandson in the car I have not had the car long and was wondering if my car had the disabling in it. I wouldn't put anyone at risk, that's why I asked the question

You'd only need to disable the front passenger airbag if you had a rear facing child seat in the front.

It was never a standard feature, always an option. Though most late Elites had it anyway to use up stock.

It works in conjunction with a GM baby carrier. Its not a switch like other cars.

So, no, you aint got it - if you have, you'll have an amber light by interior light that lights up for a couple of secs when starting.

Does anyone know if unplugging a wire to the airbags will throw up an airbag warning light(which then can't be deactivated without tech2)? Or pulling a fuse?

It's certainly not in the same level of usability as a simple switch like on most/all modern cars, but if the OP needs it as a feature it must surely be doable?

I know it's a 'you must tell your insurance company' thing etc, but that red tape issue aside for now, as far as I can see that warning light is the only real problem I can think of here - if the airbag is temporarily disconnected will the light come on 'for good'. Because a very simple switch, perhaps hidden behind the dash/vent trim panel when you open the front passenger door would be a good place. The trim pings off very easily, but you could hardly deactivate the airbag accidentally, you'd need to open the door first.

Just theorising at this point...  :y

Assuming it's the same as the side airbags (facelift) then yes, unplugging any airbag will cause the light to come on el permanente until a chat with a tech2; even once you've plugged it back in (as I found out when I accidentally turned the ignition on with the door loom disconnected)

Yep, and in that state, none of the airbags or pre-tensioners will work.

Simplest solution is to either fit a forward facing child seat, or put the child seats in the back...

The end :y
