.....there was a RWYB meeting. :)
Only managed four runs down the strip because an over eager biker had an unfortunate mishap half way down and they wouldn't restart until the ambulance returned. :-\ This little incident meant a two hour delay.
Then another delay of about forty minutes because of dropped oil about 100 yards from the timing lights. :-\
Great fun though.

And... :D
Was it as fast as Webbys 2.5?

I'll fetch my time slip.
All runs were completed 'two up' and despite the whole of the strip being covered in rubber there was precious little grip on a cold October afternoon.
According to a couple of deranged bikers I spoke to my time(s) for the first sixty feet was about half a second slower than it should have been if everything had hooked up properly.

I didn't see it, Mr EMD.
However, I did hear people speaking about a 600 BHP Anglia spilling it's guts, so maybe it was. :)

Picture above for your pleasure ;) It use to be fun standing in the tin shed behind the jet cars :D car but they have blocked all that off now .

Is that a Capri your racing :-\
It is indeed. A Mk2 with a hatch if I recall. He was ahead of me for the first 200/250 yards. Like shit off a shovel out of the blocks.

The best 60ft time I managed was 2.2818 seconds. :(
With the TC on the car would not allow me full acceleration. With TC/ESP switched off the problem was excessive wheel spin.
So yes.....I was crap off the line. ;D
In the hot summer months I think better traction could be had when the coating of rubber becomes nice and sticky. ;)

The Capri was hardly stock. It sounded like it had a V8 under the bonnet to my ears. :)

Sadly the nanny state is alive and well even at Santa Pod. :-\
We were both forced to wear helmets as the car reached more than 110 MPH at the end of the strip. :-\
Don't like helmets.

Very similar. It is possible it was a highly modified 2.8 or 3 litre V6. Didn't get the chance to speak to the fella.
The thing was just the skeleton of a Capri really. I imagine it weighed next to nothing.
