Title: schrader valveon fuel rail (2.5 v6)
Post by: Webby the Bear on 31 October 2016, 19:27:55
bit of an odd one.

after replacing cam cover gaskets I got a strong smell of fuel. found a leak at the rail Schrader valve. tightened it up with a tyre valve core remover tool thingy. all good.

yesterday smell of fuel again  ???

sure enough the valve is leaking again evenafter I tightened it up.it was loose again. I again retightened but that hasn't madea bit of difference.

is the core just a standard tyre valve core? If so im going to fully remove it and swap it to see if that helps. if not I have spare inlets so can put them on. but obviously rather not have to have all that out...... again  ::)

cheers chaps

It would be same size I believe, but not sure if its different seals in order to cope with petrol etc...

Well easily sorted. Got the valve out and it were bent. Replaced it with one out of a new tyre valve. Job done  :y

Good to know! Very good of them to use a standardised part, not make it 3 thou larger and be £19.76 + vat!
