Title: Never had that before at a dealers
Post by: Crazycarzowner on 03 November 2016, 17:18:27
Took the Superb for a 30k service at the dealer I bought it from today, left it with them for the morning. Midday comes and I get a txt message. Look at it and there's an email link which I open to find a video of the service technician carrying out the service and showing me with his camera all the checks he's doing, the whole underside of the car & the ECU update.

Also did a free wash, wax & valet & all for £149

Woodhouse Engineering of Rochford (near EssexBigAl) pioneered that several years ago. They videotape (VHS, back then) all service and repair work and give the recording to the customer, if he wants it. The downside? Too expensive for me!

There are some elements of VAG desperately trying to make up for the bulk of it...

Suspect dealer group has previously found themselves in court...

The local Ford/Citroen dealership has been doing this for some months now, maybe other dealerships are also doing it.

The Internet is full of videos...

Some of them show fitters not doing what is expected. Many are from the Landofthefreeandthehomeoftthebrave where people routinely sue over such matters...

Don't suppose it would take much for certain dealer groups to find themselves in this position often enough to have to be seen to be tackling the issue...

Of course, if it can be dressed up as 'customer Service' then that disguises the negative aspect ::)

People have complimented her on it being such a lovely colour. You are obviously old and used to star silver.

My thoughts exactly ... 43 seconds to "inspect" the whole underneath of a car and to pronounce the Track Rods, Ball Joints etc "in good condition" without a prybar in sight ??? ...and how much did that "inspection" cost I wonder?? Doubt I'd be taking a car back there .......   :(

Bah... They have clearly carried out the inspection during the service and are merely highlighting any areas of concern ::) in this case, being almost new, there's absolutely sod all to report, hence the 43 second video :-X

What do you think it is, an omega?  ;D ;D It's only 10 months old with 6000 miles on it, not due a pry -barring for a couple of years yet.

Local Ford/Citroen dealer has recently also begun doing a walk round video of the vehicle when it arrives on site. This is done in the presence of the customer by the service advisor[as they're called these days]I suppose this in part at least is to protect the dealership from any possible customer claims that their vehicle didn't have that scratch/dent/whatever when they dropped it off.

One Renault year equates to one dog year.

Ten months is therefore about 6 years. :)
