Hi all
Now I want to describe, how to repair Omegas door stoppers. I did the work more than one year ago and the mechanism is still working without problems.
Before I bought my Caravan, some bloddy idiot tryed to fix the problem of a pulled out stopper by welding through the screw holes. Of course that was not durable in any way.
How to fix it? First I opend the tin around the stopper, to remove the mechanim and get a little room to work.

Here you can see the removed stopper. The holes for the screws are closed by welding

The stopper has to be planed from welding points

drilling and a new thread

New assembly

Now I have to strengthen the door area around by 2 mm tin.

Welding in the mechanism and screwing in the stopper. It works!

closing again the operation area

Some cleaning and painting, new spacers from the local Opel dealer about 2€

Looks and operate like new!

THX Dr. Gollum. It is a pleasure for me to solve such little problems....

when new and within warranty, Vauxhall repaired doors using a specific repair panel, though they didn't broadcast the part number ..... they were reluctant to acknowledge their was a fault.
This is the RHD driver's door repair panel ..... presumably there was another of the opposite hand
(I bought this but never actually used it, instead sandwiched the cracked door skin between two plates)

The other repair kit, was two piece's of steel, and longer bolts, as said it just sandwich the door and stop mechanism, think there's a how to guide.

I have the same problem on mine Omega's driver's door but never took a look into it...I think I've just added a new job for this weekend ;D :o

THX Andy B
I know. Opel offers the same repair kit for something about 20 €. But it was not useable on my Caravan, because someone did lousy welding before and I had to remove that dump. After that the area looks a little different and the repair kit was to small. So I had to do an own construction.
@ Ever Ready
Optimist. But thanx. An 20 year old Omega daily driver never gets ready. My "to do list" is real long....

Hi danzigfan
Be careful with the stopper. It looks rather simple, but the parts easyly fall apart. Reassambling can be a big problem, the spring is realy strong.
