Title: Proposed road tax changes Y reg and newer
Post by: theowletman on 29 July 2008, 11:26:26
If the government continue with this stealth tax plan, here's a thought to cushion the blow. The new rates will apply to cars being taxed from 1st April 2009, so if your tax is due in the next few months, only tax it for 6 months and not beyond the end of February 2009, then, from the 1st of March 2009, tax it for a year and miss the new rates for a further year. I bet if your tax is due at the end of March 2009 you have to pay the new rate as the disc will begin on 1st April. Just a thought. Then again they may hopefully see how unfair it is to penalise motorists for a choice they made as long ago as 2001, and cancel this stupid idea. Nothing surprises me with this bankrupt government anymore.

oh how very sad. robbing barstewards.

I still think the government is in meltdown.  They know they won't win next time so will try to get away with anything they can until the election (like their ridiculous expenses).

The gaffers X5 is going up from £210 to £440, it is due to be taxed 1st April. The current tax will be cashed in during February and retaxed for 12 months from 1st March. Got to play them at their own game.

Holy sh*t Batman - tbh I've never looked into the rising cost as I thought it was aimed all the 4x4 and you V6ers - how wrong was I?  >:(

My little 2.2 is in the same council tax band F as a 2.6 V6 and I will be renewing for 6m & 12m - total £315.50 giving me 6m for £15.50 and not having to fork out until next year.

Why does that not make me smile then ?? :-/
