I'm impressed with the MPG which is representative of 'give and take' driving. On a long (very) gentle run, she will manage anything up to 28 MPG. :y.At Santa Pod she managed 7 MPG.
I apply Sonax Polymer Netshield twice a year which keeps her nice and shiny without anything more than car shampoo and a soft drying cloth.

Pictures taken with a ten quid Nokia 108 dumb phone so don't show the car in it's best light. :-\
-
Certainly scrubs up nicely :y
-
Do like XF's :y
Ver nice :)
-
Doesn't the Jag come with built in sat nav? or is that well thumbed playboy magazine in the front passenger seat pocket ::) ;D
Looks nice apart from that :y
-
I assume you like the car. Any comments on it to the negative, as I am looking at one at the moment?

That is a copy of Fiesta 'readers wives special'. But yes it does have Sat Nav, albeit nothing like as good as the Vauxhall.

More niggles rather that criticism. The poor sat nav being one of them.
Lovely to drive and well screwed together. :y

I took a 3l petrol for an extended test drive. A nice car to drive, but I had real issues with the seats in the base spec Luxury model after about 2 hours. But everyone is different, so try one and see.
Compared to Omega, limited rear seat headroom, and boot is a bit smaller.
A lot of seemingly simple functions, like seat heaters, are via the touchscreen, which is a bit more fart arsy around than just a button.
Facelifted models (approx. 2012 onwards) have the ever annoying, irritating, and frankly irresponsible stupid stop-start system to appease the great unwashed treehuggers. But better satnav etc. And I believe all facelift have HID headlights.
Certainly a nice car, and certainly still on my list as a possible replacement.

....tell me about it. :-\
Good points......excellent brakes, handling, and ride (even with twenty inch wheels) Not board hard like some of the Germans. Relatively quick and reasonable economy. Big boot.
Front seats are excellent on XFR model.
Bad points........what TB said about the fiddly bits. Poor rear leg room especially for taller drivers. Cooled seats are crap. Seat heaters work only slightly better.
Overall 8/10. :) I like it.

Very nice Lord Opti :y
-
Very nice indeed Opti bet it sounds terrific.

Was looking at one of these as a possible towcar .. but petrol ones (suitable for LPG) seem to be very rare ... :(

That's because diesel would be far more suitable for towing, also the boot on the XF in my view is small. A LPG tank in there would make it barley big enough for a ruck sack. It's very narrow, heavily restricting it. Little Miss T's pram plus other bits had no chance.
I was gutted as I was looking at 10 Plate 3.0d's - It was a serious contender, shame about the boot.

not necessarily so ... If the caravan / car are correctly matched, loaded and driven properly, there is little difference between them. The LPG tank size would be a problem though I agree ....
-
It's the opening is the issue, it's super narrow. It goes back ok ish, but it's miles smaller than the Omega which has huge opening.
V6 diesel would give far better fuel usesge while towing though? No need to spank the revs, so much low down torque.
What I've found with mine, mid range low down, so much more get up and go than the 3.2. When I've had 4 passengers in both 3.2 and VW, it's been less noticeable in the VW.
Mainly due to low down pull, just effortless torque.
I'd get the XJ myself though, if I wanted to tow through Euroland. Surely that's better option? V8 and LPG 8) - Bigger boot as well

Except that I don't think the new shape is type-approved for towing. :-\. And all the old shape ones smell too much of Werthers originals and urine. ;D
Hunting in that price bracket, I'd take the Full fat Range Rover TDV8 myself. Probably got just enough grunt to pull most things 8)
-
I think the boot is larger than average. It's rear seat space that is the problem.
-
Nice car M'lud, and I'm glad you're pleased with it! :y
When my mate lived in Houston, I house sat a couple of times and had use of their cars, one being a Jag XKR. I agree that the Jag sat nav is crap! :(

It seems to have little idea which roads exist even though it is the latest version.
Another annoying thing that it does is when it says "go to the start of your route " which can be miles away and with no idea how to get there. That is why I carry a map. :-\

Very nice. :y The rear seat space is only a problem if you regularly travel with four adults, but if it's just you and Mrs Opti then not so much of a problem. At least it has four doors to make getting in the back easier. :y
I'd certainly be happy to have that sitting in my drive. :y
-
Nice all round shape , very nice arse end :) Hope it serves the Opti family well :y

Derv is dead in the water, Mr Tunnie. :-X
It would be brave (or foolish) man who invests in a brand new diesel.
-
Somehow I don't think so, they will continue to get cleaner.
Given my car is £30/year to tax, people won't be flocking back to petrols any time soon.
If you park away V8/S6 performance cars, petrols are going small and turbo. 1.0 with a turbo(s) in Focus/Mondeo etc.- Fine now, but what about when these are 60/70/100k+ miles? Such highly strung small capacity engines working over-time. Can't see those lasting very well, even more so as manufactures are only interested in making them reliable within warranty time.
Once out of warranty, they don't care, they want you to buy new.

Yes, with the spectre of them starting to be banned from european cities pretty soon, I'd say tractors will become "toxic" (in more ways than one) pretty much overnight. The future is in EVs, PHEVs and DI petrol engines.

Hmmm, bad news, as I am particularly long in the leg, and the Omega is fine. I was hoping a V8 would suit. :-\

I suspect they won't get clean enough quickly enough. Doubt they will get banned, but made financially unviable - ved hike or fuel hike.
It's now almost inevitable :(

Ahh good news then, I'll check one out. The 5.0L V8 appeals. :y

Next question is, which model gives the softest Omega style ride? :y

I think only the supercharged have active dampers....

Clearly I need to do more research. :-\ :y

Yes. My car has an electronic limited-slip differential and a trick set of continuously variable dampers.

I almost bought an XFS (5 litre V8 but N/A)
Certainly worth a look and pretty rare. 385 BHP is enough for most needs. :y
