Title: Increasing Lupo screenwash capacity
Post by: GastronomicKleptomaniac on 13 December 2016, 10:59:08
The workhorse of Chez GK is a little 1.0 Lupo. Terrific little thing (even though I look like I'm wearing it rather than driving)... however in ze intervests ov efficienzy VW haff fitted only ein teeny veeny washer bottle. And it's empty within two or three days. I suspect MrsGK is drinking it in the belief it's alcoholic but that's by the by.

One plan is to get a bigger bottle from a Golf or Passat or wotnot... but then I got to thinking... perhaps I could mount an Omega one behind the rear bumper.

I am currently away from the Omegas so can't have a look - how are they attached to the inner front bumper? And any grand ideas for attaching them to the Lupo that don't involve drilling the inner bumper? It's the only straightish panel on the car!

According to Haynes the washer bottle is bolted to the inner front bumper. It doesn't say how many bolts or where they are but I would think it would become obvious when you've got that far.Sorry no ideas on how to attach one to the Lupo.

It bolts to the back of the crash bar using 4 8mm self tappers into plastic expanding clips, one at each corner...

Whether there's room anywhere on the Lupo to mount it without removing any impact absorption or bumper reinforcement is any ones guess... Shape will also play a part as it is slightly curved ;)
