Just wondered as mine doesn't have one, more or less every senator, cavalier etc. I see has one, so thought omega would have followed suit, except police spec ones. Not sure if they were standard or not?
Kind of glad as they drain water into the sills and the roof rots out round them too.

CDX and ELITE only if memory serves.
-
Both my CD spec cars had one. :-\ Ive never really seen the point of them to be honest. ???

Sunburnt bonce
is that with hair or not? ;) There's always the blind if you want to protect your pate ;)
and a noisy windy cabin. Great. :y :D ;D
You don't have to open it all the time ..... or you could just tip it upwards :y :y

Vauxhalls went through a phase, as did a lot of car manufactures, of not fitting Sunroofs when Air Con was fitted as standard during the 90's, so if we forget the Omega's without Air Con for the Moment, the only Omega's that were fitted with Sun Roofs as Standard and Air Con were CDX's and Elites, so any others with Air Con, ie MV6 and CD's (not sure about Basic spec late GLS) Sun Roofs were an Option Order.
-
Only CDX/Elite as standard then. Makes sense then why mine doesn't have one - CD only. You also get more head room as well!

I use it all the time. Considering that I leave the climate control set to 20°, there's very little point in it being on when the ambient temperature is anywhere between about 10 and 25°. Which is a large chunk of the year in the UK. That included last weekend, when it was 11° according to the display in the car.

You forgot to mention the tantalising prospect that as your car ages, it can morph into a semi-sentient being. Open itself of its own volition overnight and allow about 2 gallons of rainwater to seep into the front seats.
Or perhaps that's just the one in my car ;D

A semi-sentient Omega is a pretty disturbing thought!
It would be like a stroppy teenager stomping about breaking things, or an incontinent OAP with dementia.

Mine has done this very randomly maybe once or twice a year, It sh*t me up once opening while driving, Another time with the engine idling while in the house came out and it had tilted the sunroof, luckily not raining any time it's happened :o ;D
Ghost of Christmas past perhaps? :D

Yes had one in my 2.6 CDX had no issues at all , wish the Merc had one I miss it.
-
I pulled the fuse on mine. That stopped the little bugg£r's antics once and for all :y
I gather that you can disassemble the control wheel and clean it up as a fix. But seeing as I never (voluntarily) used it before, I figured life's too short.

I like my Merc's panoramic roof :y

My CD spec has a sunroof (which leaks ;) ) so I guess that was an extra!

you sure it's not the drain tubes that are blocked? the sunroof itself isn't designed to be water tight against the steel roof
-
Useless things Sunroof's the 3.2 has one, I tend to keep the blind shut almost 100% of the time. Given the age the seals start to go, I get a fair bit of wind whistle around the sunroof.
Closing the blind keeps the noise down!

standard on pfl 'reflection' model v6 petrol, plus aircon
-
Love my sunroof, especially in the summer. All windows open. Foot down.

PFL/MFL
Fitted across the range, except on GLS. GLS buyers had no cost option of sunroof or A/C
FL
Fitted CDX/Elite only
Never yet seen an Omega sunroof leak. And any leaks are far more likely to be blocked drain tubes.
And I would, in the UK, prefer sunroof to A/C

I often got a fair bit of water in my head from the sunroof in wet weather. If the car was parked over night. Turned out it wasnt actually the sunroofs fault. Floorcarpet and soundproofing in the floor was soaked in water due to rust holes in the floor. Some of this water would evaporate and then condensate on the inside of the sunroof glass. As the car started moving either me or my girlfriend would get wet hair:p the whole glass was covered in water drops. As the floor was repaired and eventually dried up problem was gone:)

Exactly the same as Smart Roadster when (not if) they leak. People mistakenly believe the fabric roof becomes porous, but it has a plastic membrane within, but it wet carpets that cause the problem. And the carpets hold more water in the foam underneath than you could possibly imagine ... and a bit

Is there a guide on how to check and if needs be clean the drains?, Can't say I've noticed any drain tubes.

Pouring water down them is a good way to check ;) The front drains can be seen in the front corners of the sunroof aperture when it's all the way back. The rears can't be seen due to the sun roof itself.
Front drain tubes go down the A posts and drain into the front of the sill (not the best idea that GM have had, but they been doing at least since the Manta was on the road) the rears are obvious if you know where to look in the boot. Look inside the cubby hole in the rear driver's side (1st aid?) and you'll see a 5/8" ish black plastic tube ... that's a drain tube, there's another on the other side in where the spare lives.
Net curtain wire is good for unblocking them
