Title: What type of battery for a Vauxhall Omega 2.2 CDX DTI
Post by: HLM001 on 05 January 2017, 16:28:46
Hi - excuse the newbie Q but what type (size/voltage/amperes) of battery for a Vauxhall Omega 2.2 CDX DTI - diesel?

If anyone knows a good model/brand and supplier I'd be most grateful.

Happy New Year!

096 should do the job

As stated, a 096 should suffice, but I would go for the highest ampere hour (70 and above) and highest CCA (cold cranking amps) available in this size (a battery can never be too powerful in my opinion), not forgetting the terminal layout (pos on the left and neg on the right, effectively at the rear of the battery). If you use your Omega on a daily basis, then there should be no problem, but if it spends time not in use, I have found Omegas have a heavier than normal drain on the battery, although I have never found any reason for this.
I would go for a 3 or 4 year warranty; if you get one off EBay (there are some good deals out there at reputable sellers, for example General Traffic), I would go for one relatively local to you so that it can be returned easily if it fails in the warranty period, and they are less likely to disappear in the warranty period! In theory though, if you go for a national seller such as GT, then you should be able to return it to any branch.
No connection to GT, by the way, just a relatively satisfied customer over the years.....
