Doesn't have to be vodka, about 55 people died from drinking perfume or something recently. Anything with alcohol in will do.

When it's minus 20 all winter I guess anything that hasn't frozen is fair game...

In many Eastern European countries driving licences are issued by the local police. Two ways to obtain your full licence: Have a load of expensive lessons, learn to drive and then take your test or the cheaper option, slip the police a brown envelope and walk out with your full licence. I will let you guess on which option most people go for? ::) ::) ::) This is one of many reasons that the standard of driving is so poor. :o :o :o
Drinking your daily 0.5 to 1L of 90% proof village vodka and driving vehicles is not a good combination. ::) ::) ::) For men it is not cool to wear a seatbelt, not that your 40 year old Lada will have any fitted. Ukraine has an annual road fatality rate of about 10 per 100,000 population and is ranked 130th most least safe country.
Of course, a lot of the East Europeans that bought their licence are now living and driving over here, hence the fall in driving standards.
