After a misshap yesterday, it looks like my 2.5TD could be on it's way to the big scrap yard in the sky.
Got in the car to go shopping, then realalized that I had forgoten my phone, so poped back into the house to get it. As I came out the front door I was greeted with the sight of the Omega rolling down the drive. There was nothing I could do but watch as it smashed into the lamp post across the road. :'(
Tail gate and bumper are both shot, but the worst thing is that it has pushed the rear valance in, so it's not worth trying to repair.
Car still drive fine, but just looks a mess.

Always a shame to hear about incidents like this, no doubt not helped by the design of the Omega handbrake. If it's any consolation my ebay bargain handbrake cable kept seizing, so I resorted to just keeping it on a relatively flat surface and in gear......... until one day I forgot >:(

Front bumper badly damaged, and car ended up on top of the wall causing damage to track rod..... not the end of the line, but enough to withdraw it from active service.

How much would you want for tail gate and bumper + support?
I'm going to see how much it could cost to get the back end straghted, then see if it's worth spending money on her.

About £25 for a decent sledgehammer and perhaps £3 for a lump of 4x6 timber...

Used those already, and a big rope round the lamp post. ;D It now needs a bit of precision pulling to get the tail gate to seal.

Lol. Fresh tailgate first then fine tune it :y

Replace the rope with a large ratchet strap.

Had the plate for a few years now, got it for my Carlton Est and then transfired it to the Omega when I sold the Carlton.
My wife says it stand for " Chris's second Opel" , as I also have a A sirres Manta.
I paied £475 for it back around 2000, so got to be worth that . But I will be keeping the plate for the moment, if I sell the car, incase I get another Opel/vauxhall as a replacement. May even keep it even if it's not on a Opel, everybody knows me by it. ;D
I have deceided that I am going to keep using the car for the moment, while I sort out the few issues with my 2.6 V6, and look around for a replacement tail gate in the correct colour. Once the V6 is sorted then I will use that as my every daya for a coulple of months, and see how i get on with the running costs of the V6.
This will give me time to look around and hopefully find a Tail gate that does not need painting. If needs be I can paint one, but wish to keep costs to a minimum.
So has anyone got a blue matalic tail gate for a MFL ?
Also need the rear bumper bar and black plastic cover piece?
Chris.
