Title: Outside temperature malfunction
Post by: atann on 06 February 2017, 23:21:11
My sensor is giving really wild temperature reading, does this effect the climate control? For example, returning 35c, climate set at 21c, car doesn't feel as warm since this error occurred?

New one is a fiver and can be changed with only the bonnet open ;)

..... does this effect the climate control? .......

Yes .... it does on facelift cars like yours. Sensor lives central to front of car behind the bumper but apparently the connector a bit further back can cause problems too.

For PFL owners

The outside temperature sensor lives backside the front bumper near the left fog light. Normally the sensor is not the problem. The cables are broken inside. Had it on both of my Omegas.

Sensor cables are blue and leading to the bumper. Easy to repair.

Where exactly is it located, do you have a photo you could upload? I assume it doesn't effect the climate control when set to lowest or highest temp?

Answered in my first reply... Sometimes a decent puddle answered can knock the sensor from its bracket. It then floats around next to the radiators causing it to over read.

I think it won't. When I got this "F-temperature" only cold air got from heater if not in HI position.

In the summer set to LOW, I assume I will still get the coldest air flow possible?

Not looking hard enough!  ;)

Mine went the other week and I replaced it with one of these.

It's set into the grille in the middle, just pops out.
