Title: Outage Friday PM
Post by: TheBoy on 24 February 2017, 13:50:32
The OOF standby database has just crapped its pants.

Need a 30min outage within the next 6hrs to resync with primary database.  Likely to be between 5pm and 6pm today.

Apologies for the inconvenience, caused by my lunch!!

See this is something I never understand about Top Tech Bods, you have to eat....   as well as fall asleep.......  in the bath.  ::) ;D

Good luck with all, dont break anything and thanks again for all your hard work.  ;)

We have a shiny replacement server, but its still sat in my lounge, "being tested".

Now, the hypervisors are clever enough to decide amongst themselves what is going to run where, and had decided that the secondary OOF DB server was going to run on this shiny new physical ProLiant.

Which is all well and good, except being in the lounge meant it was on a UPS.  Which again is all well and good until the toasted sarnie maker popped the main house RCD...

Hence, having to recover the DB  :-[

Halogen hobs, that probably won't work too well.

I might splash out and get her another sarnie make though.  Can't beat a toast sarnie :y.  My first choice was a bacon bap, but apparently we had no bacon and no baps  >:(

I carnt find an ebay linkey for the micro brownie thingy I have....so your out of luck there....

But its basically two concertinaed metal plates (I think aluminium) that you put bacon/burgers/etc in between....that's got a plastic cover over both sides....food in...lock em together....and nuke.....result cooked food and browned....I guess because the metal gets hot and browns the food  :y or it could just be magic  ;D

What's the runtime on the UPS?

What's the runtime on the UPS?
One is about 30-40mins, other is about 50-60mins.

Fridays SNAFU was 0 mins, as the server temporarily in the lounge wasn't on a UPS (is now though)
