-41 dBm
Link Score 63
Overlapping 1
Max Rate 300
Are these figures good, bad or average?

I had to google that just to see what it was ;D

Ermmm.....yes.....I think so.

-39dBm
Max 300
Overlap 0
That gets you a link score of 100. (but then I am only 2m from the router) ;D

That ain't good, what channel are you on, and how many other APs can you see.
300Mbps is about right for a 2.4GHz 'n' router. Not quite the 1300Mbps my laptop is picking up from inSSIDer this morning... ...not that reality ever gets near this theoretical...

Channel 11.
APs 11.
Link Score 61.
inSSIDer says I would improve my link score by moving to channel one, but as every one else around here is on channel 1 or 6, apart from a vodaphone, whose on channel 11, I wonder?

InSSIDer is correct in saying move to 1.
Being on the same channel as other people is rarely an issue. Its being on an adjacent (overlapping) channel that is.
Think of it like a pub:
You and your mate are in a quiet pub are talking on the same channel, so when he speaks, you stop and listen, and vice versa, no problems. Everything you want to say is said quickly, and your mate hears. But then a rowdy lot comes in and everyone else is on adjacent (overlapping) channel, which causes you trouble having your conversation, and you have to repeat yourself regularly, thus taking much longer to say what you wanted to say.

Why? They seem to work ok....ive got 3 three of them....one on a PC with movies stored....one on the router and one on a TV.
It means I can stream movies to the TV from the PC in HD quality, which wifi couldn't hack....apart from running cat5 cable around the house, which wasn't going to happen, its a cheap solution and no other option :y

Totally agree with you Dave :y

Yup, me too. But, of course, we are not experts in the field and just because something works perfectly, doesn't make it right. Right? ::)

If you wanna use a cable, run a cable :y
