My 2001 2.2 petrol is in for mot today. Answers below what its going to fail on  ;D

'rear coil spring corroded both' aren't they all? if it hasn't snapped it must be ok.  sounds like they went to town a bit....

Ian, I had a similar failure on mine last week, a small hole in the wheelarch/door shut, but on removing the plastic trim I found this:

And that wasn't everything I had to cut out. It has a big hole in the sill that isn't visible with the cover in place, so I will be doing that in the summer.

I'll wait and see on monday as this is the earliest they can look at it. would look at it myself but i just haven't got time at the moment.
Thing is even if it costs a couple hundred for them to do it its still worth it as everything on the car is mechanically sound and I won't get another car with 12 months for that money

Yes normally he is a bit more lenient but he has a new guy who works with him who is proper jobsworth :D
