I was in a petrol station & was approached by a guy telling me he had a few smart tvs of various sizes 42" up to 56" . when he opened the back of his van there must of been 50 of the things. he was so persistent that in the end I could of had one for £70 . all the boxes were sealed so never saw one . I wonder if it was a good deal or was I right in thinking it was a con,

You'll never know ::) I have to say, I would have at least looked, just as research of course ::)
But, if there was anything in the boxes, assume they were nicked. Therefore, handling stolen property or whatever the proper charge would be ???

It started off as 'expensive' watches and went through various things until.....mattresses was the last one I heard. All shite, of course.

I understand that a common ploy with these things (assuming they aren't the obvious "fell off the back of a lorry") is to take used and broken ones, pressure wash them to get them very clean and new looking, let them dry and sell them.
The purchaser has no way to test them at the side of the motorway.
I had someone try this at a services on the M6. However he didn't get very far through his pitch as I was shouting bloody murder at him for opening my passenger door. :o

I am glad that I didn't buy it cos apparently if it had have been nicked as soon as they are in use they are trackable.

Wise move, never be taken in by these types.
