Title: Corsa C Heat Shield
Post by: Mr Gav on 26 March 2017, 21:10:42
I`ve been doing a bit of work on SWMBO`s lads car this weekend, one job was to replace the handbrake cable, which to get at the lever end of the cable meant moving the heat shield to gain access.

As per every 17 year old car every retaining nut was rusted solid and snapped the studs.

I plan to refit it next weekend using some penny washers and some tek screws from work. These screws have a `drill` bit on the end to create a pilot hole and then self tap into the hole but are around 25mm long but the issue is, are they going to be too long and end up coming through the carpet as I have no idea what is beyond the underside of the floorpan.

Any other ideas greatly appreciated as long as it doesn`t involve welding  :y

Treat it like Omega heatshields and chuck it in the bin.

I might do that but it will need cutting off as it is a one piece heat shield about a third of the length of the car, might be quicker just to put some self tappers in.
