Hello again,
After coming from a drive (floored it a couple of times) I noticed white smoke coming from near the back of the engine (or between the part of the engine that is between the interior and the engine). Since I recently changed the cam covers, how possible is it that the oil cooler is leaking? It also smelled a bit before I changed the cam covers. Are there any other possible culprits to this problem? Oil cooler pipes perhaps? And is it possible the oil might have come from the oil filter housing that is just turning around when I tried to open it (going to get it changed soon). The coolant is red, oil is yellow, but before I changed the oil, it had some mayo on the cap - I'd like to rule the cylinder head gasket.
Let's say I did the cam covers properly for the sake of an argument - then I can start going over possible problems one by one.
It seems very inappropriate to drive the car like this - I fear it may catch fire.

It could be possible that its a drip of oil going on the manifold from the cam cover
what does it smell of?

It is possible that you have some oil residue at the back of the engine after doing the cam cover gaskets. This oil will burn off if it is not another problem. I certainly have had that issue in the past. ;)

If I recall correctly, it smelled like burnt oil.

No oil in coolant, so wont be oil cooler.
Wont be head gasket, never is on a 3.2.
Mayo on filler cap is characteristic of short journeys, made worse by cold weather, and some say, made worse when using Castrol oil, but nothing to be overly concerned about.
If oil filter housing is loose (sounds like it might be ?) oil could be spraying onto the exhaust manifold.
Could be a leak at the half moon at the rear of the camcover gasket, as these are notoriously easy to get wrong - as in not quite seated properly - when changing the gaskets.

Okay. I'll get the oil filter housing sorted and then check the cam covers again.

A mirror held against the bulkhead is the easiest method I have found to check the camcover half moons. :y
If the oil filter housing is loose it should be obvious, as I would imagine it will be spraying oil everywhere. :y

Half moons can be felt blind :y
Should feel like a 5mm over lap... and holes or significant deflection suggests misfitment ;)

How likely is it that the rocker cover is bent and thus leaking? The breathers were cleanish, only some residue on the walls.
And how tightly should the rocker cover bolts be tightened up? 8Nm?

Cam covers have been known to "warp"-mine did-but if anything like mine they warp along the long sides and can be checked with a straight edge.Yes cam cover bolts tightened to 8nm :y
