Can anyone recommend good car hire firm in Alicante please?

are you talking airport on arrival or in Alicante?

I can't advise you on either but the subject comes up a lot on the Costa del Sol. Have a search on the forums part of Andalucia.com.

I've used Lara cars on a few occasions, although not in the last 5 years or so. They have always offered a decent service, been competitively priced and, on the one occasion when I mullered the front bumper on a piece of street furniture all I got was a shrug of the shoulders on returning the car. ;D

If in Spain - I always use Goldcar, through doYouSpain.com, but I don't buy the insurance online (not worth the paper it's written on) and buy it at the desk.

Always worked a treat for me and very competitive. They charge you for a full tank but refund what you don't use, minus a £13 "refuelling" fee..... but all in all it's great value :y
