OUR day almost slipped by unnoticed! Why is it that WE celebrate the welsh, the scotch and the irish national days but not our own?
Could it be that we KNOW that we are superior and have no need to bolster our egos in that way?

See Labour are proposing 4 new bank holidays to celebrate all 4 patron saints - mind they'll probably cancel Christmas and Easter to satisfy the pc brigade

Always celebrate St George slaying the mother-in-law! ;) On Saturday went to my local club's St George's dinner dance. Excellent roast beef meal with 1/2 a bottle of wine and a few beers afterwards while enjoying the music and dancing. :y :y :y

Yep ! That's it you've got it in one  ;D

But aside from the PC brigade wanting to ban anything "English", I was think about the general dare I say "branding" of St Georges day.

Scotland - Kilts, Haggis, Whisky, Thistle

Wales - Leeks, Dafodills, singing, Dragon

Ireland - Guiness, Shamrocks, Leprechauns

England - I dunno, suggestions please  ???

Mister Rog, I don't think we need to have food, flowers or whatever associated with us - just our quiet superiority will do it.
However, I will respect your question and try to answer it.
Food would be fish and chips, obviously.
Engineering excellence and creativity - but how would you tokenise them?
We gave the world democracy; no need to celebrate that, it speaks for itself.
We don't need a national dress, we aren't puppets!
Drink? Real ale or cider?

Ron.

However, I will respect your question and try to answer it.
Food would be fish and chips Chiken Tikka Masala, obviously.
Engineering excellence and creativity - buggered by piss poor implementation and penny pinching
Drink? Real ale or cider? Chilled fizzy beer, Export, minimum 6%
Fixed for the modern world ;D

It will never ever work though. Best to leave them to it, and buy their oil until we don't need it any more.  :)

Got back from the van yesterday afternoon and after popped into town for a couple of hours.

Well fook me, the city centre was wall to wall England flags and most pubs had a St Georges Day piss up going on  :y :y
Must admit, I was plenty surprised and lets just say I have lost my voice and still refuse to pick up the car keys due to the amount of sauce drunk  :D :D
