my camshaft pulley is fubbered . luckily I was in a car park & just about to head for home , a bang , no power steering & battery light on. I lifted bonnet noticed aux belt hanging so was going to attempt to put it on but as I lifted the belt I saw the crankshaft pulley still hung from it. the bolt is still in situ its the rubber that was perished. need to get one as going from York to Hampshire on Wednesday . :( :(

I just want to add . could fact that a perished rubber would cause the eml to appear when the car is idling or moving very slow ( not always )

Readily available from autofactors.
Easy enough to do.
Can't see why that would bring EML on

it was just a thought. I have managed to order one delivery estimated Tuesday . I will call them to guarantee it.

Your 2.2DTi is NOT a TD. Don't ask for TD parts or you'll get wrong bits

my mistake it should have read tdi. however I have ordered one for a tdi :y

Hope it's one with a proper rubber insert, not a solid one. Only made that mistake once when the engine vibrations dismantled a solid one.

It's not a tdi either, it is a dti

I stand corrected :) trying to get the bolt out . up to now I have tried breaker bar with a big jack handle for extra leverage , car jacked up with a bar onto concrete & a fast lowering of the jack . all to no joy. :'(

You wont remove the bolt like that, you need to lock the crank with a special tool or remove the starter motor and lock the starting ring then get hold of the longest breaker bar you can find! Some say you can do it keeping the car in gear and chocking the wheels but I've never managed to do it that way!
You will probably find that the aux belt tensioner has also failed as well so worth getting that checked before just fitting the crank pulley.
In answer to the EML, no it won't have been caused by this previously unfortunately.

I do possess a locking kit so if I remove the crank sensor & insert the crank locking pin that should do ?? my experience with removing s/motor is that the exhaust front pipe has to come off to get to the bolt from gearbox side. in the mean time I have rang a mobile mechanic whom says he can come Tuesday with a impact gun. that will mean rad & condenser may have to come out to make room. at the moment my heads knacked as I need to be down in Hampshire Wednesday for my granddaughters wedding

I did mine by wedging breaker bar against chassis leg with a piece of wood then flicking the starter motor. Bolt came straight undone, easy peasy.

I've done it like that too on various cars. Also used a bloody big hammer to clobber the spanner on the bolt
