Been running lean? Question is why.
Recon head is easy enough to source, or strip it and have it recon'd. But then what's to stop it happening again.

Someone I know who works for VW has mentioned this issue,it happens quite often and the only fix they will do is replace the motor :-X

I guess as a garage, its the only option, in case of piston and other damage if its run lean. Otherwise, comebacks could get expensive.

I must say that it is refreshing to see such an open and honest advert. 8)

It's an eight year old golf that's done over 100,000 miles and has a major engine problem. Don't be seduced by its appearance.

The problem is with oil consumption being too high on long life servicing and the lack of any warning that the oil is low, first warning thats visible is the oil pressure warning and its too late for the engine by then :'(

Had they bothered to Please read the manual, they would see that Vw consider normal oil consumption to be in the order of a litre every 1000KM... ::)

To quote that well known marketing line:

Or except the VAG group have been churning out some right dogs over the past few years, esp in the engine department.

And blower iirc. Great for boats which require flat torque curves... Less great for a runaround :D
