Seen the latest advert for a well known breakdown service[the one with yellow vans]which features a little lass strapped in her car seat in the back of dads car and she's "singing"along to Tina Turners Rolling On The River.Think it's a well done advert-or maybe it's just the soundtrack I'm liking.

It is a great advert, and the little girl is just so cute :-*
A wonderful piece of trickery, but so believable :y

Its actually called 'Proud Mary', but we know what you mean. 8) Good ad.

Well, I know that the AA gets a lot of stick, being more commercially driven than it used to be. And of course the annual charges are somewhat negotiable etc. BUT, when you break down and need assistance (quite frequent with an Omega!), in my experience they do deliver. I've just renewed with them despite slightly cheaper deals around.

Yes, he is an actor who plays many bit parts. The last I saw of him, if I remember correctly, is as the boyfriend of Mrs Temba last year in Doctors on BBC1. ;)

And that's exactly as planned, as they know the British public is so incredibly stupid when it comes to "little darlings". Which goes a long way to explain modern society.

Cute children along with cute animals goes back to at least the end of the nineteenth century going on into the early twentieth with the writings of the likes of Beatrix Potter and Enid Blyton. So hardly modern society as I think you mean it TB.
Anyway, what is wrong with a softer edge to society? Do you really want to go back to the Dickensian ways of Victorian society; a harsh, brutal and shortish existence for most without much chance to feel soft and woolly? Worse still, would be the return to the values that made life for millions worth no more than cannon fodder on the battlefield.
Not many of us is "stupid" enough not to realise what is going on when advertisers use such "soft" images; it makes people feel good about the products, and so what!
Soften up TB as I feel sure you are not completely a hardened, unfeeling, IT and motor technician who does not feel a pinge of soft emotion sometimes ;D ;D ;D ;D ;) ;)

We need a compromise somewhere in between. And there is no reason that minors shouldn't be added to the cull list.
Modern ideas like Naughty Steps and Nobody Loses at sports days need to be gone, along with those who suggest it. Our children are not prepared for adult life.
About 1 in 40 of the apprentices and grads put in front of me are actually employable, and the rest have a bloody hard time adjusting to the real world.
If I did wrong as a minor, dad clipped me hard around the lughole. If I then answered back or complained, well, I had another lughole to clip. If my parents wanted to go out for a meal, and no babysitters available, I would have to go along with them, in a seen-but-not-be-heard capacity. How many little shits do you see throwing tantrums or running around pissing everybody else off, because the useless parents have no control?
So, no, I do not agree with snowflake parenting. Its a sign or poor parenting, and brews up trouble for when they become a bit older.

does not feel a pinge of soft emotion sometimes
I cried when I discovered what was in the garage, but not covered by insurance ;D.
I might have had a gentle weep a few days before when I broke my hooter and my ribs.
That wasn't my favourite week of all time, and that's not even mentioning that we had to leave 3 people behind when we came back from hols, due to an unfortunate incident, and a sleezy pilot being a self righteous idiot.

:o :o Come on man, where's your stiff upper lip? ;D ;D ;D ;)
