OK, I'm new here and looking for a bit of advice, I drive a 200 Omega FL 2.2 16v, when I bought it, it was making a tapping noise and seemed to be slightly under powered, so I had the tappets change with rocker gaskets, cam belt, Aux belt and cam seals. But nothing seems to have changed it taps the entire time, I've checked Spark Plugs and it says in the service book they were changed last year. I have also done an oil change. Any idea how to make my Omega stop tapping and get some power back....?

Could it be that the xhaust manifold has cracked?I believe the 4 cylinder cars a fairly prone to this.Don't know whether this would affect the power delivery though.Welcome to OOF by the way :y

It's has been replaced, but the noise comes from the top of the engine...

Had a look today, the manifold looks good, but it making a very loud noise, can it be in sealed without having a crack in it?

is it louder when engine is cold getting quieter when warm or a constant volume.

I had an Opel mechanic look at it yesterday, he said it's definitely not the manifold, tappets have been replaced, so long as it's not using too much oil just live with it.....

I have a tappy xev, mine though is because two exhaust studs on cylinder one have sheared however I have managed to quieten it ever so with steel putty. when its hot it isnt noticable.

what oil have you in the engine. ? full sim or part sim ?
-
Full synthetic, I buy the GM original oil and oil filter. The said maybe pistons rings, but it doesn't smoke and it doesn't really use oil....
