anyone know how to set up rear track control arm?
-
I think in all the years of Carlton, Senator and Omega ownership I`ve never had one adjusted yet but if it needs doing it will have to be done with the full geometry IIRC
-
They have usually seized solid, and need heat to free them off. Its usually easier to remove them and do it on the bench, and then the threads can be greased before refitting.
The rear track will obviously need resetting after doing this.
When I replaced mine years ago after they had seized solid, as the replacements were genuine GM, I thought I might have got away with some careful measuring before refitting, but when the set up was checked after, the rear did need adjusting.
As you probably know, whilst doing a full geo set up, the rear track has to be adjusted / set first, and then the fronts are adjusted accordingly.

Yup, measure, free up/regrease/replace, refit to measured length, then get a full geo done.
Rear thrust angle is more critical than rear camber when it comes to working out the compromise. The Thrust angle must be 0'00 on an Omega. Absolutely 0'00.

Even with LOTS of heat mine wouldn't budge.....and I had a pipe wrench and was hanging off it to try and move them ;D
New Lemforder (?) ones available from Euro Crap Parts :y
