I cannot find the spec. for the illumination bulbs. Mine have gone quite dim.I would like to obtain bulbs before taking apart. How many bulbs are required, what rating and what type.I have read the guide for removal are there any snags when doing this job or should I put up with a dim display.

I assume you have got the 'illumination' on max setting?? :-\

there are 4 of them and these should do the job

Yes on Max setting .Thanks for link :y

Find out what display type you have, as the number ant type of bulbs vary - 4 on MID, 2 on TID, 3 on GID.

On a similar theme, my old shape V reg CDX estate has a CCRT 700 radio/tape player/ 6 CD player/telephone device which works well (reluctant CD changer), but brings with it a dedicated display with thin characters. I have changed all 4 bulbs (black cap) but the display is still unreadable in daylight. It's fine by night.
I suppose it was always that bad, seems surprising though. Any comments?

How do I find out what type of display unit I have? Will it be in the instruction manual ,I think my manual covers all types. Thanks for the reply. :y

Looked again at the handbook and it would appear that my display is MID Multi information display.

No, they are generally bright enough, all Omega displays are a bit hard in direct sunlight on the unit.
