Title: MOTs, Stress & the Mockery of Car Tax Bands
Post by: Markie on 06 August 2008, 14:46:25
I`m / Was stressed out my nut with the Jeeps MOT /Retest.

Good news is its passed  :D :D- i know no more than this yet as i got my old man to take it for fear of me running the MOT`er over.

Some may rememebr my emmissions and third brake light failure....Solution was to remove the brake and argue the toss whilst a good old oil change, Flush with Fortes and hard and fast run sorted its emmissions :y

Not sure if it was tested on LPG or petrol as yet...

I dont think i have ever been as stressed as i have been today awaiting the MOT verdict. Births. wedding, exam results were all eclipsed by this.

A wee rant now..... Wifes 2004 clit - cost to tax £115.50, 1996 4x4 4 litre Grand Cherokee cost to tax £101.75.

It really makes a mockery of this emmissions nonsense  :-X Especially when the clit goes to the £400 bracket next year whilst the Guzzler remains around £100...

Particulalrly when you think the Jeep engine is a design so old it was first seen forming part of an outboard motor on the ark!

PMSL  ;D

"High Output"  8-) (185 BHP from 4 Litres, IIRC) Woooo!

Glad to hear it's read legal at last. :y Why is it only £101.75. to tax? 6 months, surely (185 a year)?

yup 6 months is £101.75 12 months is £185.

This has been one of the most challenging project i have had to date. And its staying. Nothing below looks hard but you try getting a jeep hub off and re-laying all the brake pipes  :-/

New Brake unions and brake pipes all round.
New Discs & pads all round.
New Handbrake Cables amd Shoes
Front Caliper rebuild.
New Driveshaft and CV joint ( Boy that was fun)
New Headlight, Air Filter Box
Full Coolant flush and service.
New Tyres and alloys ( through choice)

Its now on road, insured for a year, taxed for 6 months with fulll LPG unit  with change from £1400 including purchase  :)
