Title: LED instrument bulbs
Post by: terry paget on 08 July 2017, 15:37:30
Standard radio panel bulbs are tungsten filament and get dimmer as they blacken inside; and cost £1.25 each. I see LAD replacments on e-bay at 10 for £2. Are they any good?

In the Omega (and other cars designed for bulbs, not LEDs), it uses light guides, so needs the light to be emitted out of the sides of the bulbs, not out of the centre like LEDs.

Every Omega I've seen with LED dash illumination has inconsistent/blotchy illumination of the instrument dials.

My mk4 astra, I put a white led into the odometer without removing the diffuser and it turned green and wasnt readable anymore.

If you want check out plasma dials if they are still around, look good in the correct colour combination
