You should be able to get your finger nail under the badge and just pull them off and then use tar and glue remover to get the rest off :y

Dental floss, less risk of scratching the paint than fishing line. Then I used autoglym tar remover to get rid of the adhesive. Jobs a goodun.

Guess it depends on whether or not you speak to a fisherman or a dentist..never thought of floss, though!  Probably better..

If it has been glued on with a hot glue gun (and it probably has) it's Polypropylene and it will need at least 165 deg C to melt. So a hairdryer probably won't do it. A carefully wielded hot air paint stripper may be better.

And the Polyurethane lacquer underneath melts at about 177 deg C.

I would be thinking about using the minimum heat possible to get the badges off (use a bit of wood/plastic to lever it, although I like the fishing line idea) and sanding what remains.

mission accomplished. finger nail behind. pulled off badges. removed sticky foam from behind with a bit of gentle rubbing and a bit of carb cleaner. thanks for all help and advice.
