Title: servicingstop
Post by: Sir Tigger KC on 12 July 2017, 17:00:32
Has anyone used this company which seems to be a booking service for garages?  ???

They're quoting £87.68 for a full service on my Mondeo, including pick up and drop off.  :o  :y

It seems too good to be true and I know I'll get all the comments about cheap parts and shoddy work etc, but just wondering if anyone has actually done it!  :)

No they just know that you are richer than me!  :P  Rural poverty is a terrible thing you know.  :(

I just got another quote using a postcode from the Rhondda Valleys and got £74.35!  ;)

Just thought I'd resurrect this as they are currently getting a working over on watchdog.

Typical stuff, they get your car in and then pressure you into unnecessary work. Worth a watch before you commit!

That simply underlines the fact that it is always worth going to an honest, reliable and competent garage - does that ring a bell on here?

Clue; Huntingdon has one such..... :y 8)

I have a natural aversion to anyone but me driving my car, so these clowns wouldn't even figure in my search. The standard price for an MOT and basic service (oil, filter, air filter and pollen filter) is about £120 round here.

Far better finding a good reliable mechanic/garage through word of mouth.

Shortly after moving to Wales, car needed a MOT & service, so I used them. I wasn't familiar with local garages. This was about 3 years ago, so things may have changed.

The main problem was that all communication was via them not with the actual garage. So, tyres needed, and the cheapest of the cheap get fitted, I usually buy premium tyres. The garage doing the work is local, but the people you deal with are not, a bit strange. Yes, the car did get picked up and brought back all ok.

I don't have any major complaints or anything. It was all ok, but I didn't use them again.

The poor sucker who owned my jag previously was often paying £400.  And certainly wasn't getting a good service if the air filter is anything to go by.  No idea about pollen filter, as not found it yet, and oil filter will be impossible to tell on a tractor.

This company was on Watchdog last week.  They are being hauled up for getting garages to quote for work that is not required.

From the evidence provided I would not touch them, as I would never touch Kwikfitup ::) ::)

You have to go back a few years and get the better-made models, Lizzie; you can't get the wood, you know!  :y
