copper washers are stronger, copper crimp are for vibration but they can split had a few go before. usually just put a star washer on top of the copper washer stops vibration. or a copper tap washer has a lip on both sides bend over the nut or bolt.

I always understood that crush washers had a shape machines into them, like a lip almost, and that was the bit that deformed to provide the seal.

That said, on the sump plug on the Saab, it had a plain copper washer. So possibly it doesn't matter.  :-\

For the brake banjo there are 2 types, copper and aluminium.

they are just flat washers, they get imprinted once they have been used (concentric rings)

similar to the washer you find on the sump plug but dont get wrecked half as much

The VX supplied washer for the banjo bolts on brake pipes is an aluminium .As you tighten up the banjo the aluminium squashes ..as name implies crushes  :y

pirtex do both banjo bolts & all type of washer to suit.  I find them far cheaper than the likes of dealers
